Feeling Taj
Visiting Taj Mahal was an integral part of my Delhi itinery. But when I walked down the garden way leading to the famous tomb I was a bit confused. Confused cuz it didn't impressed me at the frst sight as I had expected after having read and heard so much about it. So I just walked in and out and around the structure to catch some finer points of it which left me even more confused. May be the hot sun (as against the twilight) and crowd of tourists falling over each other to get themselves framed in their cameras was irritating me.
While passing by a marble wall I saw a man touching a painted wall over and over again. I asked him frustratingly and with raised voice, "Boss, Why are you touching that artwork? Whats so special about it?" He replied,"Because I cannot see. I am a blind person".
I cannot describe the feeling which ran through my heart - Shame, guilt and disgust upon my ego - or something more self humiliatng. At one hand there was ME, unable to find anything of substance in that magnificant structure and at another this group of blind men, trying to feel the Taj with the help of their guide.
I darted out of the main gate.
